Coppe/UFRJ will host the 20th edition of the Global Medical Engineering and Physics Exchanges / Pan American Healthcare Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE), one of the most important international congresses dedicated to biomedical engineering and technologies applied to health. The event will be held from April 6th to 10th, 2026, at UFRJ’s Technology Center 2, bringing together researchers, professionals and students from various countries.
Hosting the GMEPE/PAHCE represents a milestone for Coppe, the Biomedical Engineering Program and Brazil, reinforcing the institution’s role as a reference in research, technological development and innovation in health as well as expanding its international presence in a strategic area for the future of science and society.
Registration for the submission of scientific papers and for participation in the congress is now open. The deadline for submitting papers is January 11th, 2026, and registrations with a discount can be made until March 6th, 2026.
With 19 years of history, the congress was originally launched in cooperation with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In its most recent editions, the event has expanded its reach beyond the Americas, consolidating itself as a global reference space for the exchange of knowledge and scientific cooperation in health technologies.
The edition hosted at Coppe will feature lectures, technical sessions, workshops and presentations of scientific papers, addressing topics such as medical devices and images, telemedicine, artificial intelligence and data analysis applied to health. Presentations may take place in person and virtually, expanding the international reach of the event.
The congress will also include an international exhibition on medical technology that will connect industry, academia and healthcare institutions, fostering opportunities for cooperation and technology transfer between countries and research centers.
