The Pan-American Marine Energy Conference (Pamec 2026), the main technical forum in the Americas dedicated to offshore renewable energy will be held for the first time in Brazil — and specifically in Rio de Janeiro, with Coppe/UFRJ as the host institution. The event will take place from April 10th to the 15th, 2026, and registration is open.
PAMEC 2026 arrives in the country at a strategic moment for the advancement of the energy transition and the blue economy. The conference will bring together experts from various countries — not just from the Americas — to share research results, discuss innovative paths and address the challenges in developing sustainable technological solutions for exploring the oceans’ energy potential.
The scope of the conference covers a wide range of offshore renewable energy sources:
- Offshore wind,
- Wave energy Energia das ondas,
- Tides,
- Ocean currents,
- Thermal and salinity gradients,
- In addition to renewable hydrogen production and synergies with the decarbonization of the offshore oil and gas sector.
Holding Pamec 2026 in Brazil represents an unprecedented milestone for the country and for Rio de Janeiro, strengthening Coppe’s role as a reference in science, technology and innovation focused on major global challenges — including the sustainable use of marine resources and the decarbonization of the energy matrix.
