/Nanotechnology Engineering

The Nanotechnology Engineering department was the first in that field to be established in Brazil. The department provides students with a rigorous education (in master’s and doctoral levels), hands-on experience, and exposure to cutting-edge research in modern, well-equipped laboratories. Its master’s and doctoral programs have received the highest grade given to new postgraduate programs by Capes (official evaluation).
Nanotechnology is synonym to innovation and competitiveness. It is the technology that allows for the manipulation, control, design, simulation, development, execution, and fabrication of objects, structures, devices, and systems in the scale of 1 to 100 nanometers. In effect, nanoengineering has various applications, in different areas and for innumerable human needs. It bridges the basic knowledge and the applied knowledge.
The department’s research lines concentrate in the following areas: Nanoscale transport phenomena; Nanomaterials; Nanosystems; Nanostructures and Nanosensors; Synthesis of Nanostructured Materials; Nano-design; Nanotechnology and Society
