From corrosion in oil rig mooring lines to the detection of anomalies in wind farms, as well as in hospitals and newsrooms, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already part of the daily routine in various sectors. The goal of the II EngenharIA–Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering, organized by the Technology Transfer Center (NTT) at Coppe/UFRJ in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Digital Transformation–is to map this trend and discuss the challenges it presents.
From October 13 to 15, researchers, students, corporate professionals, and public officials will gather in the Coppe Auditorium to present research, ongoing applications, and experiences with AI in various fields. Among the highlights is the presentation of the Rio de Janeiro State Artificial Intelligence Plan by Madalena Alves, state undersecretary for digital strategy and data.
The program will also feature representatives from institutions such as LNCC and CBPF and from companies such as Shell, Globo, Itaú Unibanco, iFood, TechnipFMC, Deutsche Bank, and Sebrae. A total of 17 organizations have been invited, broadening the dialogue between the university, the private sector and public authorities.
The event will also feature presentations by Fábio Borges, director of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC); Clécio De Bom, scientific coordinator of the Applied Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (LabIA) at the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (CBPF); Ben-Hur Correia, coordinator of AI and Digital Strategy for Journalism at Globo; Juliana Lohmann, coordinator of Government Innovation at Sebrae/RJ; Vinicius Machado, AI leader at Shell; Carlos Alberto Marenga, CEO of Avivus Health Tech; and others.
The Colloquium will be held in the Coppe Auditorium, Room G-122, from October 13 to 15, from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Applications are free, and the event is open to students, researchers, professionals, and anyone else interested in the topic.
