Coppe stands out in the first edition of the Faperj Award for Science, Innovation and Recognition

Coppe/UFRJ had professors and startups recognized in the first edition of the “Faperj Award for Science, Innovation and Recognition – Highlights of Rio de Janeiro”, held by Faperj in partnership with the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI/RJ). The ceremony, which took place on December 11, highlighted projects and researchers with scientific, technological and social impact for the state and for the country.
The award was structured around two axes:
– Scientific and Innovative Society – aimed at researchers, companies, startups and communicators;
– Faperj Professional Recognition – intended for employees and collaborators from the Foundation itself.

In the Scientific and Innovative Society axis, three Coppe professors were awarded: Hélcio Orlande and Marcelo Savi (Mechanical Engineering Program) and Romildo Toledo (Civil Engineering Program). Hélcio and Romildo received 2nd place in the Innovative Researcher category, in the Innovation for the Productive Sector and Innovation for the Public Sector modalities, respectively. Marcelo Savi won 2nd place in the Outstanding Researcher category, in the Exact Sciences, Earth Sciences and Engineering modality.
In addition to the professors, Optimatech, a startup graduated from Coppe’s Business Incubator, also received 2nd place in the Innovative Company or Startup category, reinforcing the institution’s vocation for technological transfer, entrepreneurship and solutions applied to society.
During the ceremony, Faperj president, Caroline Alves, emphasized the innovative nature of the award, which seeks to give visibility to the science and innovation produced in the state, highlighting the role of researchers and collaborators in promoting the social, economic and technological development of Rio de Janeiro.Learn more on the Faperj website.
