Students from Coppe’s Chemical Engineering and Nanotechnology Engineering Programs are participating in one of the main training and academic cooperation programs between Brazil and China in the area of energy transition. The Tsinghua-Envision China-Brazil International Summer Training Camp on Bioenergy 2026 brings together students and researchers for an immersion in technologies focused on decarbonization and sustainable development.
Promoted by Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in China, in partnership with Envision Energy, a global leader in energy transition solutions, the program seeks to train leaders with an international vision in topics such as biofuels, biomass conversion, green biomanufacturing, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

Over four weeks, Coppe students, who conduct research at the Micro and Nanotechnologies Laboratory (Laminas) and the Catalysis Center (Nucat), will be participating in classes, seminars and technical visits in eight Chinese cities, including Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Ordos and Quzhou. The delegation is coordinated by Professor Tiago Balbino. In addition to Coppe, students from other Brazilian universities are participating in the summer camp, which ends on July 10th.
