Coppe/UFRJ welcomed 16 new professors in an event specially designed to integrate newcomers to its faculty. Held on Monday, October 13th, the meeting featured presentations from the board of directors, the Central Administration and the professors themselves, who shared their academic backgrounds and had the opportunity to learn more about the institution and their colleagues.
The new faculty members hail from various cities, states and even countries, bringing with them experiences and perspectives that reflect Coppe’s plurality. This diversity enriches the academic environment, expands interdisciplinary dialogue and offers new perspectives for students and researchers.

Coppe’s director, Professor Suzana Kahn, emphasized the desire to maintain a close relationship between the board, the new faculty and the faculty already working in the institution’s 13 academic programs. “Under this administration, we seek to prioritize transversality. Today, engineering is no longer as siloed as it was in the past. It is essential that areas and groups be more integrated. I would like to see this strong integration between programs, faculty, technicians and students. This is extremely important,” Kahn emphasized.
Professor Alexandre Szklo, vice president of the Deliberative Council, recalled that Coppe maintains the values that inspired its creation 62 years ago: “Coppe is a pioneering institution and must remain so. Our challenge is to maintain the concept of excellence and team spirit in an institution with 13 programs, but which operates under a common purpose.””

The arrival of these new professors comes at a time of renewed focus on contemporary issues such as sustainability, decarbonization, energy transition and technological innovation. This renewed focus contributes to Coppe’s continued evolution and incorporation of new perspectives that directly impact the education of its students and the solutions it offers to society.
With a faculty recognized for its quality, dedication and capacity for innovation, Coppe reaffirms its commitment to excellent scientific production and the training of professionals capable of transforming both the future of engineering and the country.
