Date: 11/06/2026

Coppe/UFRJ will be present at the 2026 Energy Summit with the participation of its director, Professor Suzana Kahn, and invited researchers for debates on energy transition, technological innovation and sustainable development. The institution supports the event, considered the largest held by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the world, which will bring together experts, companies, universities and representatives of the public sector between June 23rd and 25th at Marina da Glória (RJ).
On June 25th, Suzana Kahn will be one of the speakers on the panel “The Triple Helix (government, companies and universities) in the country’s economic development.” The debate will address the role of cooperation between academia, the productive sector and the public sector in promoting innovation and national competitiveness.
For Coppe’s director, technological innovation depends on the articulation between different agents in society. “The partnership between universities, governments and companies is fundamental to transforming knowledge into solutions that generate economic development and benefits for society. It is a process that involves challenges and risks, but also significant opportunities for value creation,” she says. She will participate in the panel alongside Lilian Melo, executive manager of Cenpes, and Marcelo Viana, general director of Impa.
In addition to Suzana Kahn, Coppe will feature the participation of other experts in panels considered strategic for the future of energy in Brazil. Among the confirmed speakers are Alfredo Renault, director of Coppe’s Center for Low Carbon Technological Solutions; Alexandre Szklo and Milad Shadman, professors of the Energy Planning (PPE) and Ocean Engineering (Peno) Programs; and Maurício Tolmasquim, retired professor of the PPE and current member of the Board of Axia Energia.
The Energy Summit brings together national and international leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities of energy transformation, focusing on innovation, sustainability and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Registration and complete information about the event are available on the Energy Summit 2026 website.
