The Pan-American Marine Energy Conference (Pamec 2026), the main technical forum in the Americas on offshore renewable energy, will be held in Brazil for the first time — and precisely in Rio de Janeiro, with Coppe/UFRJ as the host institution. The event will take place from April 10th to 15th of 2026, but the call for abstracts is already open and will be running until September 15th of 2025.
Pamec 2026 arrives in Brazil at a strategic moment for advancing the energy transition and the blue economy. The conference shall bring together specialists from several countries – not just the Americas — to share research results, discuss innovative paths, and discuss the challenges of developing sustainable technological solutions for exploring the ocean’s energy potential.
- Offshore wind,
- Wave energy,
- Tidal energy,
- Ocean current energy,
- Thermal and salinity gradients,
- In addition to the production of renewable hydrogen and synergies with the decarbonization of the offshore oil and gas sector.
By connecting science, innovation and public policy, Pamec 2026 offers a unique learning and networking experience on a topic of growing global interest. The program will feature plenary and technical sessions, thematic workshops as well as social and cultural activities.
The call for abstracts is open to students, researchers, industry professionals, public policymakers and representatives of research institutes interested in marine energy. The organizing committee strongly supports student participation, highlighting academic papers during the conference and in associated publications as well as providing limited financial aid to students from the Americas.
Holding Pamec 2026 in Brazil represents an unprecedented milestone for the country and for Rio de Janeiro, strengthening Coppe/UFRJ’s role as a reference in science, technology and innovation focused on major global challenges — among them, the sustainable use of marine resources and the decarbonization of the energy matrix.Learn more and send your abstract: https://pamec.energy/events/pamec-2026-call-for-abstracts/
