Petrobras Inventor Award highlights technologies developed at Coppe

Coppe/UFRJ’s ability to transform research into innovation for industry has once again been recognized in one of the country’s leading innovation awards. At the 26th edition of the Petrobras Inventor Award, seven technologies developed at the institution were recognized, bringing together 34 professors, researchers, technicians and students. In addition, Coppe researchers participated in two other award-winning technologies in partnership with UFRJ units.
The result reinforces Coppe’s leading role in developing technological solutions for the energy sector and its role as a strategic partner of Petrobras in research, development and innovation (R&D&I) projects. The award-winning technologies cover fundamental areas to the competitiveness and sustainability of the industry, such as chemical processing, corrosion, advanced materials, offshore production, carbon capture, process monitoring and water quality.
Promoted by Petrobras, the Inventor Award recognizes technologies protected by patents developed by researchers from the company as well as partner institutions, valuing initiatives that contribute to technological advancement and the strengthening of innovation in the energy sector.
At Coppe, the award-winning technologies were developed by teams from the following programs: Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (PEMM), Chemical Engineering (PEQ), Civil Engineering (PEC), Ocean Engineering (Peno) and Nanotechnology Engineering. In total, the institution accounted for seven awarded technologies, while Coppe researchers were also part of the teams responsible for two other technologies developed in partnership with UFRJ units.
