The challenge of the energy transition requires technological solutions capable of reconciling safety, reliability and sustainability. As a strategic source with low greenhouse gas emissions and high reliability, nuclear energy can play a complementary role to intermittent renewable sources, such as solar and wind energy, in the pursuit of energy security and greenhouse gas reduction.
Next Tuesday, August 26th, Coppe/UFRJ will bring together experts, researchers and policymakers for the event “The Role of Nuclear Energy in the Decarbonization of the Brazilian Energy Matrix”. The aim is to foster a qualified debate on how nuclear energy can contribute to energy security, innovation and Brazil’s commitment to global decarbonization goals.
The event will be carried out at Coppe’s Auditorium, room G-122, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Technological, environmental, economic and regulatory aspects will be addressed, in addition to prospects for expanding installed capacity and developing new applications, such as advanced modular reactors.
