Communications workshop
Knowing how to communicate research is an increasingly important skill in a researcher’s career. Transforming a discovery, a technology, or a solution into a clear and accessible message makes it possible to broaden dialogue with society, bring potential partners closer, and highlight the impact of the knowledge produced.
As part of the schedule for the 2026 Coppe Explica Award, the Communications Office is holding on August 25 a workshop open to all researchers interested in developing this skill, regardless of whether they are participating in the award.
The workshop, divided into two modules, presents techniques and tools for transforming complex research into clear, engaging messages capable of capturing the interest of diverse audiences.
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. | How to turn your research into a high-impact pitch
How can you present your research clearly and engagingly in just a few minutes? This module covers storytelling techniques and how to organize your ideas to highlight the problem, the solution, the relevance, and the potential impact of your research.
11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Producing scientific videos: turn your research into a visual story
How can you communicate your research through video using simple and accessible resources? This module presents strategies for planning content, building a narrative, and exploring images, sounds, and resources available on your smartphone.
The workshop may also be helpful for those planning to participate in the Special Ocean and Energy Transition Award, held in partnership with Marsalgado, which requires the production of a short video about the research.
