Since its founding in 1966, our program has treasured and stimulated an international experience for teachers and students, while also developing the Brazilian industry with consulting projects that keep our national companies in sync with the state-of-the-art technologies in electrical engineering throughout the world. We qualify students for a broad scope of activity, and thus for interdisciplinary activities in various sectors.

Our program’s faculty includes members in the Fellow category, the highest category of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which is the world’s leading technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. We also interact closely with the undergraduate course in Electrical Engineering at UFRJ. Our lines of research focus on the following areas: Electronics; Control, Automation, and Robotics; Electric Power Systems; Power Electronics; and Computational Intelligence.
