Created in 1992, from the interdisciplinary research area of Energy established in 1979 at Coppe, our group constitutes a pioneering program in our country, as well as the largest Brazilian group for research and graduate education in our field.

Recognized for our qualifications in human resource training and research development, we have a close relationship with companies and institutions, having contributed to the adoption of modern planning methods in energy and environment in our country.

With our defining multidisciplinary approach, we associate the technological element in energy with the proper political, economic, social, and environmental aspects. We have an outstanding performance in climate change, with significant and continuous participation of our professors and researchers in IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and UN (United Nations) reports.
