Marine engineering

Capes grade: 5

Coordinator: Jean David Job Emmanuel Marie Caprace

Vice Coordinator: Marcos Nicolas Gallo

Since its creation in 1967, our program has been acknowledged as a national and international point of reference for its work in education and research in marine engineering. In addition to our master’s and doctoral courses at Coppe, we also offer undergraduate courses resulting from our integrated work with the Department of Naval and Ocean Engineering at the Polytechnic School of UFRJ.

Our laboratories are among the most modern in the world. They include the Laboratory of Subsea Technology and the Laboratory of Ocean Technology (LabOceano), capable of simulating the characteristics of the marine environment and its effects on floating structures.

Our strong connection with industries and companies fosters significant achievements in the development of technology for offshore oil exploration and production. As such, we contribute to the development of studies and projects in coastal and environmental areas, thus contributing to advancing the naval sector.
