Created in 1965, our program is the first of its kind in Brazil. Our close connection with the undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering at UFRJ provides an academically diverse and stimulating environment for carrying out activities in teaching, scientific and technological research, and studies and projects in partnership with companies.

Our lines of research focus on the following areas: Acoustics, Vibration, and Dynamics; Fluid Mechanics; Solid Mechanics and Material Integrity; Microfluidics and Micro- and Nanosystems; Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Robotics; and Thermosciences and Thermal Engineering.
