Coppe/UFRJ kicks off its participation in COP 30 in Belém with the seminar “Planning the Brazilian Energy Transition,” next Tuesday, November 11th.
The meeting proposes a strategic forum for dialogue between academia, the productive sector and the government, with the purpose of aligning visions and building pathways to an essential national objective: ensuring access to secure, continuous energy at competitive costs, capable of sustaining the country’s sustainable development, reducing regional inequalities and guaranteeing the socioeconomic and cultural well-being of the Brazilian population.
Recognizing that all energy sources imply environmental impacts, from generation to end use, Coppe proposes an integrative debate based on scientific evidence, aimed at finding robust and sustainable solutions for the energy transition.
The seminar will bring together leading experts for an in-depth discussion on the challenges of decarbonization, technological innovation in the energy sector and the sustainable management of water resources. The program includes the following panels:
- Importance of Energy Planning for the Decarbonization of the Brazilian Energy Matrix
- The Role of Technological Innovation in Energy Planning
- Hydroelectric Power Plants and Energy Security in Brazil: alternatives to mitigate GHG emissions and improve water and forest management
By promoting this seminar, Coppe reaffirms its strategic role as a center of excellence in research and formulation of public policies focused on the country’s energy infrastructure.
