Systems engineering and Computer Science
Capes grade: 7

The Systems and Computer Engineering Program (PESC) was created in 1970 and has since then been defined by a pioneering spirit. We are among the leading Brazilian programs in this area, having maintained the highest grade awarded by Capes (the Brazilian agency that evaluates graduate programs). We work with one of the most dynamic fields of today’s science and technology, training professionals who are quickly absorbed by the market.
We are closely aligned with the national policies in science and technology and are leaders in the search for new ways to tackle problems in computing. We work actively in the following areas: Computer Architecture, Networks and Distributed Systems; Social Computing; Quantum Computing; Data and Knowledge Engineering; Software Engineering; Artificial and Computational Intelligence; Mathematics of Computation and Optimization; and Computational Modeling in Science and Engineering.
Combined with other new themes, they characterize our main challenge: maintaining our leading position in new research areas where computing is present, whether as a core principle or as an instrument, in a globalized world with unpredictable dynamics.
