Coppe will host international seminar on continuous optimization

On September 11th and 12th, Coppe shall welcome the International Seminar on Smoothing Optimization Algorithms, bringing together Brazilian and foreign specialists to discuss smoothing optimization advancements and applications – an area of applied mathematics dedicated to finding efficient solutions to complex problems, with an impact in sectors such as transportation, energy, healthcare and industrial.
The meeting, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held in room G-122 of UFRJ’s Technology Center. It is organized by professors Nelson Maculan, Jano Moreira de Souza and Lennin Mallma Ramirez, from Coppe’s Systems Engineering and Computer Science Program (PESC). The program includes a tribute to recently retired professor Adilson Elias Xavier and a special session in memory of José Herskovits Norman.
