Coppe/UFRJ welcomed on Tuesday, November 4th, the executive director of the Eldorado Institute, José Eduardo Bertuzzo, and a delegation of leaders from the institution, which is the main private ICT (Institute of Science and Technology) in the country, in strategic areas such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
The meeting was a first step to deepen the synergy between the training education programs and also the lines of research of both institutions. Just as Coppe is accredited as an Embrapii unit for the Energy area, Eldorado is an Embrapii unit for Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Intelligence and Data Science.
Bertuzzo explained that the Institute operates at the interface between universities (basic research) and companies and new businesses (the highest rungs on the technology readiness scale – TRL), operating on proof of applicability and concept and development.
“We always try to be ahead of the market. We have developed 14 technological roadmaps and, for each one, market trends are mapped for the next five years. The institute then allocates 3% of its revenue to thematic workshops, training courses and its corporate university.”
The meeting was attended by Coppe’s vice-director, Professor Marcello Campos; the director for Technology and Innovation, Professor Marysilvia Costa; and the director of the Center for Low Carbon Technological Solutions, Alfredo Renault.
After the meeting between the board of directors, the delegation from the Eldorado Institute visited the Interdisciplinary Center for Fluid Dynamics (NIDF), with which it maintains projects in partnership, combining the expertise and infrastructure of the Coppe’s laboratory with the institute’s Data Engineering and AI projects.
