Coppe/UFRJ researchers participated in the 44th edition of the International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering (OMAE), carried out in June, in Vancouver (Canada) — one of the most important global events on offshore engineering.
The Offshore Renewable Energy Group (GERO) presented studies on the use of ocean thermal gradient energy and floating wind-wave hybrid systems.
An integrated assessment model to support the decarbonization of the international maritime sector, which was developed by the Descom.sub group, was also highlighted. The research combines Multiple-criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and techno-economic simulations, offering strategic support for public policies towards zero-emissions shipping.
OMAE was attended by the following professors: Jean David Caprace, Segen Estefen, Marcelo Igor Lourenço de Souza, Luís Sagrilo, Alexandre Landesmann and José Renato Mendes; and researchers John Chujutalli, Daniela Leite Correa, Gabriel Siqueira Machado, Marina Leivas Simão, Waldy Jair Torres Zuniga, Paulo Maurício Videiro, Fernanda Lago and Inês Sterphane Gurjão Freitas.
Once more, Coppe demonstrates its excellence in high-impact research and its international leadership in the area of ocean technologies.
