Challenges and Solutions for Global Sustainability” by Carlos Nobre from University of São Paulo (USP)
8 PM – 10 PM: Social dinner
Carlos Nobre was one of the lead authors of the Latin America chapter of the Fourth
Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. He is or was Head of the Scientific Committee of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme, Senior Scientific Advisor to the UN Panel on Global Sustainability, member of the Scientific Council of the UN Secretary-General, member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, as well as a senior fellow at the Brazilian division of the World Resources Institute.

11:30 AM – 12:30 AM: Invited talk: “Hidrologic impacts of wildfires and reflorestation” by PhD. Daniel Andres Rodriguez from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and INPE
12:30 PM – 2 PM: Lunch
2 PM – 6 PM: Visitation to Tijuca National Park (visit to the main points of the park and the firefighters’ sector) with special talk from Bruno Soares Lintomen about public use, integrated fire management, and socio-environmental conflicts.

Opportunities” from the Civil Protection/Fire department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (local stakeholder).
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Invited talk: “Refloresta Rio program” from Secretary of the
Environment of the City of Rio de Janeiro (local stakeholder)
12:30 PM – 2 PM: Lunch
2 PM – 5 PM: SILVANUS workshop and showcase of the platform (SILVANUS’ partners and stakeholders).
