Launch of the Rede Refugia platform

Coppe’s Industrial Engineering Program (PEP) launched, on June 28th, a digital platform called Rede Refugia. Developed from research carried out at Coppe/UFRJ’s Center for Engineering Studies and Research on Disasters (Ceped), Rede Refugia is another example of an initiative that was born in the academic environment, evolved itself and is now having an impact on society.
The event was held in the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Auditorium at UFRJ’s Technology Center (CT) and featured conversation circles with immigrants of several origins, representing the diversity of the community. The participants discussed experiences in Brazil and expectations for the II Conference on Migrations, Refuge, and Statelessness which will be held in November in Foz do Iguaçu (PR). The conference aims to discuss public policies and effective strategies to ensure the integration and dignified reception for migrants and refugees throughout the country.
