Coppe professor earns the most important award in the Geotechnics field

Professor Laura Motta, from the Civil Engineering Program at Coppe/UFRJ, was awarded the “Terzaghi Award”, of the Brazilian Association of Soils Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ABMS). The awarding is in recognition of her contributions to Geotechnics, especially in the area of Pavement Mechanics.
ABMS’s Terzaghi Award, considered the most important one in the Geotechnics area, recognizes the author of the best work or or best set of works published in Brazil. It aims at celebrating those who have dedicated a large part of their careers in producing research, books and papers of great relevance to the technical community.
The award is named after Karl von Terzaghi, Austrian engineer recognized as the father of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
