Solutions in Low-Carbon Technology
The world is currently in an ongoing period of energy transition and environmental limits. This causes large companies in the energy generation, civil construction, and industrial sectors to reposition themselves and reallocate their investments in Research and Development. This transition process happens both due to the growing acknowledgment of the need to limit greenhouse gas emissions, of which those sectors have a large share, and due to the need to increase strategic energy security.
We at COPPE/UFRJ have had expertise in Oil & Gas for decades and have also been reorganizing ourselves for this energy transition. As such, we continue to contribute to developing the knowledge of energy in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. We have numerous skills for achieving this purpose, with one of the biggest Engineering laboratory complexes in our country. Our many laboratories join efforts for solutions with more sustainable technologies, through our Online Center for Solutions in Low-Carbon Technology.
The mission of our center is to produce theoretical and applied knowledge for new technological possibilities in generating energy and integrating it with less carbon-intensive construction materials and industrial processes. In the meantime, we will train professionals for this new branch.
